Located in the northwest of Portugal, the region where Vinhos Verdes are produced translates, by itself, the beauty and fertility of an outstanding area of our country, being the largest demarcated wine region of Portugal. Between the sea, rivers and mountains, Vinho
Verde has been growing and gaining maturity. Initially young, with a low alcoholic content and fresh, this wine has developed its
characteristics to the point where today it is one of the national wines with the greatest demand and success at an international level.
Our journey begins in the direction of two sub-regions of Vinho Verde (Amarante and Sousa), where the richness of the landscapes,
the framing and the experiences are well expressed in their wines, each time with more character and great personality. When you
arrive in Amarante, in a short walk through the city, you will feel how the fairs and markets, the festivals and pilgrimages, the meeting places, the local stories transmitted orally, the richness and antiquity of the traditional arts and crafts, the agricultural works, the popular architecture, are authentic expressions of a traditional experience, still very much alive in the people of this region. It is this cultural legacy that defines Vinho Verde and which we will get to know on this trip to the Tâmega e Sousa Valley.
We continue our journey, descending to the Sousa valley, crossing paths of the Romanesque style, where we make our first stop at a
Quinta where Vinho Verde is produced, for a visit and commented tasting. We strengthen our souls with lunch at a traditional
restaurant in the region, where the flavours will be harmonised with the famous Vinho Verde.
In the afternoon, we proceed to a visit to a second estate producing Vinho Verde, with a visit and wine tasting, surrounded by the
vastness of green on the horizon.
Pleased, we return to Porto.
